December letter to the neighborhood

It’s December, the very end of the year! For some this is a month of non-stop holiday parties, where you will play White Elephant with everyone you’ve ever met in your entire life. The real game is trying to remember their names (again.)

For others December is...not like that, I guess. Maybe you get to enjoy slow weekends thinking about snow and sipping hot chocolate. Maybe Mariah Carey isn’t playing nonstop. Lucky.

Here in Hyland Greens it’s also the month that we have a Christmas Lights competition. Five very randomly selected volunteers from our community will be tasked with driving around the nights of the 20th and 21st to see whose house is best decorated. The winner will receive a coveted $50 gift card, hopefully to be spent on even more decorations in 2025.

It’s also our final newsletter until February. That’s right: there’s no January newsletter in this neighborhood, which means the next time you hear from us we’ll be thinking about Valentine’s day and how there’s not as much snow as we all thought there’d be (probably.)

Have a happy holiday and see you in 2025!
