2004 Annual HOA Meeting Highlights

The Annual HOA meeting last month was a big success for a few reasons! First, there was a slideshow. Second, there were snacks. Third, we did a lot of business and covered a lot of upcoming expenses.

Before we get to those expenses, thank you Rachel Simmons for volunteering to join the board and Mark Mishke for volunteering to help with greenbelts and painting the pool houses. You are both heroes! Probably. We’ll see once the work is done; but you’ve taken a great first step!

Now about those expenses: we’ve got a few coming up. Our neighborhood is close to 50 years old, and just like your aging knees, it’s time to get some work done. Specifically:

  • Resurface the big pool in 2025 or 2026. Cost: $150,000 – $200,000.

  • Pavement additions on the southside; existing is slanting. Dave Carahasen is investigating.

  • Tennis court resurfacing: close to $200,000. It will have to be totally torn out and rebuilt to prevent future cracks from returning.

  • Repairs to the block wall on 104th west of our entrance at Wolff. One quote was $650,000; more pending. Dave Glabe is going to talk with the city to see if we can get some help.

If we did these projects in one year we would wipe out our reserves and possibly need a special assessment, and no one wants that. We will continue to work on these.

The city indicated that 2025 is a planning year for Hampshire Park. They intend to do work on the basketball court first then redo the playground. Linda is skeptical but will continue talking to them about this project.

Small projects for 2025 include painting the pool houses and the men’s room at the small pool that didn’t get done in 2024. Would anyone volunteer to help Mark do this? If so, please send an email to Hylandgreenshoa@gmail.com.

We know we need new or more furniture at the big pool and are planning to add more big umbrellas. We need to take a good look at the fence around the small pool. If we do anything more than minor repairs, we will have to replace the fence and bring it up to current codes. At some point we will have to seriously consider work on the small pool and big pool parking lots. We have been kicking this one down the road.

Thanks to everyone who filled out their proxy form or attended in person. This is essential to approve our budget. Please consider joining us in person next year!
